Reading is fun...

I spent a majority of the afternoon making tiny little books to top cupcakes for a library function next week. The children will be decorating their own cupcakes. Should be a great evening. They are so small that they each fit in the palm of my hand. I've added details like pages and the spine to make them look realistic.

Tadahhhh....

Ok here it is. My Easter cake for this year. I'm happy with the outcome. I let my daughter help me with the eggs on the sides. It was fun and a learning experience. Thanks Veena again for the tutorial on the bunnies :)

Ok so back to the kitchen...I've got work to do. As always...~~Bake...Create...Be Happy!!

Getting a jump on my Easter goodies...

Hello again. As you can see, I'm working little by little on my Easter cake as I gather my thoughts for what I want it to look like. Usually, I have it all drawn out but this time I'm winging it. So far I have my two adorable bunnies (I posted photos earlier this week). I have also baked my cakes. I making one tier but made the layers a little taller than normal. I took them out of the freezer this afternoon and placed them into the fridge to thaw. I plan on putting it together Thursday or Friday.

I am also working on other parts that will go on top of the cake as well as around it. I've got my fondant carrot parts mostly done. I'm letting them harden a bit so that I can attach the greenery on top. It's too thin and fragile to attach just yet. It will fall in a way that I don't want it to.

Tomorrow, I will finish the carrot, and start on my Easter eggs. I will make 3D eggs- large and small for the top and other flat decorations around the sides.
I hope that you will come back to see the finished product. I will have everything posted by Easter Morning.

Till then~~~Bake...Create...Be Happy!!

Spring has sprung

Ok, so spring has sprung and the weather is getting nicer (unless you live where I do and you have snow one day and 80 degree weather the next). It is time for me to brighten up everything around me. I am headed into the kitchen to bake up a batch of Easter sugar cookies in cute little shapes. I'll be sure to post photos soon. Until next time....

Baby shower decorations...

I love putting things together, being creative. So when my cousin asked me to make a few things for her baby shower I said yes BUT I had no idea what to do. Once again, I headed straight to Pinterest to get ideas this is what I made....a diaper cake, onesie cupcakes, wash cloth lollipops and receiving blanket cinnamon rolls. The lollipop washcloths were a big hit.

ok...let me back up and tell a little about myself

I'm 38, married and a mother of 4 girls ranging from 15 to 6. I recently stopped working in order to help the family situation. I was needed more at home than an hour away, where I worked in the billing department for a physician group.
After, being home I realized that I needed something to occupy my time. I got really intrigued with Cake designs. There is so much you can do with cakes and it is actually an artform that everyone can enjoy. So, as you read in my first post, I decided to try it out with my daughter's birthday party. It actually turned out quiet well. I am now seriously contemplating doing it full time (or when I can get orders). I also make cookies, cupcakes, and party favors as well.
Art has always been a pasion of mine, that I never really pursued. So now, later in life I am doing just that! Enjoy :)

Something New...

Once a member of the hustle and bustle of the fast pace rat race of the business world, I decided that it just wasn't me. I love being a full time Stay-at-Home mom and keeping the home organized. With that said, I came upon a delima. My youngest daughter was turning 7 and I had to plan a party on a very tight budget. That's when I decided to do it all myself. I wanted it to be a show stopper and needed a challenge. I googled, I YouTube, I YouTube video'd, I eHow'd and glued myself to Pinterest for inspiration, ideas, and how-to's. This is what I came up with...(the drawing above). Cute, right??? We'll see how it plays out lol
