I hope everyone is having a good week so far. The weather is a little dreary here but i like the cool weather.
Here is a cake I made today for a family member. I love the simple and elegant look.
This cake can be done perfectly in several tiers making the perfect wedding cake...just saying lol.
Embarking on a new chapter in life...I have found that baking and cake decorating is my new passion and it sooths and calms my soul. But more than that...it makes people happy (who can argue with that)

Look at my adorable toddler shoes
I have had so much fun making my first pair of baby shoes. They turned out so cute that my 7 yr old wants a real pair to actually wear. What do you think????

Mosaic Tiles...on a cake???
So I love doing mosaic tile projects. Being able to create a work of art with colorful little broken pieces of just about anything is energizing for me.
While attempting to make my first batch of white chocolate modeling chocolate..I just couldn't seem to get it to come out right. That's when I had to readjust my vision for this cake. I had wanted to cover it with the white chocolate instead of MMF. When that didn't work because the chocolate crack into pieces so I started laying the pieces on the sides and then just went with it. This is definitely one of my favorites.
The cake is classic yellow cake and milk chocolate with peanut butter buttercream filling (possibly the most delicious filling I have yet to make) covered with vanilla buttercream and all of the decorations are white chocolate and buttercream.
Hope you like it.

Teal Is The Color Of The Day...
Today I made another marbled sheet cake. I wanted to try some new techniques. When I delivered it to my Grandmother to take with her to the wonderful Senior Citizens...she was so excited and said that she loved this one even more than the one yesterday. Although there was some crackling in the icing (due to my boards not being sturdy enough) it still turned to be one of my favorites...very pretty!! I love the clean teal and white combination as well!!
Next week is a busy one. My Mum's birthday as well as another cake for the senior center. Then Mother's Day cakes and another birthday cake for a dear friend. I'll keep you posted!!!
Till then...Bake...Create...Be Happy!!!

I am sooo excited to be starting something new this month. I will be donating two cakes a month to 2 different senior citizens organizations. It will be my way of giving back. It will be to celebrate all of the birthdays for the individuals that have birthdays during he month. It will allow me to work on my new techniques and to also give them something to smile about. I can't wait. The first will be delivered next week.

After watching a wonderful tutorial by Vena of Veena's Art of Cakes I decided to give a go. The icing wasn't cooperating with me as he weather was humid and warm. Strawberry Buttercream with pink Buttercream Icing. Not too shabby ey?

ABC's and 123's...
I don't know anyone that doesn't love Sesame Street!!! Here are a few of my favorite characters...Elmo, Oscar and Cookie Monster (my all time favorite).
These are sugar cookies with all decorations in fondant. I decided to use fondant instead of icing because it gave it more character, more details.
Sooo cute!!!!
Ok so I'm off to get my little one off the bus in a few. I hope you enjoy your weekend and remember ~~~

Simple Yet Elegant Cake Pops
I had a request for cake pops and the color theme was gray and black.
Here are chocolate fudge cake pops with (gray) vanilla coating lightly misted with Wilton's Black Color Mist and sparkling sugar crystals.

Here's my finished Fondant Fairy...
So I've got a little catching up to do. Earlier this week I posted photos of a fairy I was working on. It was so fun trying to complete it. Still, thanks to Liis fromCake Central for the wonderful tutorial. Although mine is a little different and I don't have molds for faces (couldn't make one because I'm using strictly fondant w/out any stiffening agent). The reason or that is because my daughter LOVES to eat all of the things I make.
So here she is

Fondant Fairies...
After a relaxing morning I decided to find something a little more challenging to create. So I decided to look for tutorials on how to make fairies. Seeing as they are my daughter's favorite things ever...she swears up and down that they are real (who am I to squash a child's fantasies?) I found a wonderful step-by-step tutorial on CakeCentral.com by a fellow caker "Liis" and here's what I have done so far...
I still have to add the wings and do a few touch ups. ..
I'll post the final shots tomorrow...

Make-up kit 101...
Here is what I started yesterday. After seeing photos from one of my favorite cake artists ~Veena from Veena's Art of cakes... I decided to give it a go. I created my make-up kit from fondant alone. It was so fun and my daughter got a kick out of seeing all of the pieces come together. She even thought the mascara brush was the real thing :) in the photo there is lip stick, blush with a brush, eye shadow complete with applicator, mascara and nail polish.
This wasn't made for a specific cake but rather to work on the technique and see what I could do without a tutorial....
So here it is...hope you like it as much as I do.
Till next time... Bake...Create...Be Happy!!

Fondant Calla Lillies..
Calla Lillies are my absolute favorite flower. So I went in search of tutorials on how to make these using fondant I went to Wilton.com and found great instructions.
I have a ways to go to make them look perfect but all In all I think they look pretty good.
I am working on some more goodies so come back soon...
As always...Bake...Create...Be Happy!!

Buttercream, fondant, vanilla...oh my!!!
Easter has come and gone...I've had a little break and since I have no orders to fill quite yet, I want to work on new cake recipes. Not that the recipe I have been using wasn't good...it just doesn't scream WOW!!! I've got lots more to try.
I'm also going to work on some new techniques that I've been seeing as posts from one of my favorite cake decorators @veenaartofcakes.com or .blogspot or her Facebook page. She does amazing work as well posting different things from her fellow decorators that are equally awesome! So check her out and come back done to see more of my work in progress as I slowly guide myself on my mission of becoming a great custom cake decorator.
Until next time. As I always say
